26TEN Coordinator

Meet Lucy

I have worked at the Geeveston Community Centre since 2013 and have supported a number of activities here at GeCo such as the Youth and School holiday program, but I’ve focussed lately on teaching adults reading, writing, maths and computer skills as part of the 26TEN program.

I strongly believe in our potential to keep learning, no matter what our age!  I’m on several boards and committees to advocate for our adult learners and I’m always looking for new mentors for the program, learners to improve their numeracy and literacy, and local businesses to support their staff gain better understanding.

If you see me at GeCo please say hi, I’m always keen to help!

Meet Trish

I have been volunteering and consulting with GeCo since 2020, and in July 2021 I was delighted to join the team as a staff member! I started teaching digital literacy and my role has steadily developed – I’m now the Digital Ready for Daily Life Coordinator which means I’m a free IT resource for the whole Huon Valley! I’m GeCo’s Program Manager too – I organise all the events and workshops we run at GeCo, and I also manage the Community Workshop. I’m editor of the GeCo Newsletter and responsible for Social Media. I’m passionate about food security as well so I’m very active in Emergency Food Relief, our Pantry and events like Soup with Soul.

I’m really proud to call Geeveston home and take an active role in how we live and do things. I’m part of the Geeveston Progress Association, and I’m the Chairman of the Geeveston Art Show Committee so I work with the creatives we have in the Valley. What a saturation of talent!

I’m at the Centre every day except Tuesday, I’d love to share a cuppa and a chat.

Michelle

Michelle

Community Connector

Meet Michelle

I’ve been with GeCo since early 2023 and my job title of Community Connector really captures what I do; connecting with people one on one to listen to them and provide support. I connect people with the amazing programs on offer at the Centre and with other services in the community.

I spend most of my time providing assistance to individuals and families. I see my role as providing information to empower people to make their own choices.

No problem is ever too big or small, I encourage anyone that is feeling a little overwhelmed or unsure about what to do or where to get help to pop in and have a chat.

Meet Gené

I’ve been with GeCo since 2023, currently supporting the Manager with administrative and organisational tasks as Executive Officer. I work on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Meet Louise

I have been with GeCo since mid-2025 in the role of Jumpstart Learner Driver Mentor Program Coordinator. If you need support to get your hours for your licence or would like to become a volunteer mentor to help someone to gain their licence, please come and see me. I work Tuesday – Thursday. .

Meet Kathryn

I started with GeCo in 2024 as a Community Connector based in the Far South Mobile Community Hub. You can find the Hub in Dover and Southport where I am available Tuesday – Friday for confidential one-on-one support, referrals to support services, assistance navigating service systems, or just a cuppa and a chat.
